Now you can never other than laugh at a 3 year old causing this of course, but Oh what a pity and how blanc it looks in here.. I was just joining this and had just found some interesting answers to some of the questions I have built up..
As this is the trader channel - perhaps I could start off with a question to fill in the blancs in here again!
A thing I cannot get my head around is if all the wonderful ICO partner announcements will build up BNT balances during their ICO's, it looks like a load of capital coming into BNT on the buyer side. That should increase price. However, usually when someone should buy an asset in large amounts, it is a good point not to tell the market so that price do not increase until after.
I have obviously missed something here - what? :)
I have done the same, and considering to top up substantially more as this is one of my favorite projects outside the internet gold of btc and the nasdac of web 3.0 Eth - but I must have missed something and would like to clarify that first if possible
It's a pity we've lost the history. I offered a thesis a while back in the thread as to why Bancor was not increasing despite the seemingly ongoing positive news. Guy had offered a considered rebuttal, which I had intended responding to at some point this week.
it's a good point. How I see it, most of the partners are not interested in making a profit from their BNT purchase, what they care about mostly is to have liquidity for their own token.. the reason most are announcing their intention to purchase, is to give their project validity and add Bancor as a partner. Most of them are in a pre-ICO phase, and it's important to show that they already have big partners (like Bancor) and that they have a long-term plan etc. Personally I'd take all these partnerships with a grain of salt.. they all intent to use the protocol but we'll have to see if that materializes
Good points. However, considering the business accumen of the Bancor team (seems well oiled as the Isrealian army) I would be surprised if Bancor team did not require some commitment in writing for these Pre-ICO partners to leverage the Bancor brand awareness at this early stage. So I actually believe these ICOs will follow through :) Which makes my question above even more curious!
I have no idea about 2018 valuation - but I could say this, from my obseesive interest in monetary and financial history, that should these guys pull this off - it is one of the biggest feat for humanity in a long time (this is not much talked about by the team, and rightly so, as it is complex and meets unnecessary objections and discussions) - and the valuation could be seen as this for reference:
Bitcoin - internet gold (gold 7trillion usd)
Ether/Neo etc - Nasdaq enabling super computer and ETH is the oil for it - add an amount of trillions on top of BTC
Bancor - you need to look at monetary supply and the plans for especially the Special Drawing Right (SDR) - on top of the unprecedented long tail of money issuance they aim to enable - and you'll need to add trillions on top of Ether
Bancor potentials are totally underestimated at the moment: I appreciated most of all this blog post which states that "The Bancor Protocol is revolutionary on a number of levels and is bound to have a significant impact on Ethereum and its use cases. I personally see an economics Nobel Price in the future of the Bancor Team for solving the double coincidence of wants problem for asset exchange." https://keepingstock.net/hacking-the-bancor-protocol-for-fun-and-profit-6ddfb7f1cf56
The main issue with Bancor is one of perception, that precipitated from a ICO, and persisted ever since. Being the biggest bag holder is one thing, but burning the early investors/flippers was a shortsighted move. Early momentum vanished, and crucially they lost network effects, that positive spin that comes with hype cycles, 2x, 5x, 10x "Bancor is the next big thing" yadda. It can be overcome of course, but their marketing team are going to have to work twice as hard to overcome it. The first thing the team needs to do is to stop denying it exists, accept it, and formulate a strategy to overcome it. Only then can Bancor start to head toward the stratosphere.
In my perspective i am quite a big holder of bnt and as all others here believe in this project. But i do understand everybody's response that even though there is so much good news now, bnt hardly moves
Great article - and I believe only half of the actual beauty shines through in that article - the long term financial context makes Bancor give me the goose bumps ! ;)
And yes, I can totally see that Bancor is underestimated, it is obviously, and I guess Henry Ford described it well already decades ago: "It's all well and good that people don't understand money, as if they did, we would have a revolution tomorrow"
So since most people do not understand money, it is hard to understand the fundamental beauty of Bitcoin, and even more so with a nobel piece prize candidate such as Bancor :)
